Well, I must first give credit to my friend Tracy Williams for suggesting that I write on the topic of Acrophobia. Acrophobia is defined as the extreme irrational fear of heights and is a specific phobia......... In doing my research, I found that there are hundreds of different phobia's. Some of the phobia's are just ridiculous to me while others were more understanding. There were a number of them that stood out in regards to life and our attitudes. Phobia's are like road blocks in a sense, they can slow you down, delay you, cause you to change direction or bring you to a complete halt. Just as life is filled with pain and disappointment, it is also filled with love and opportunity but you have to be willing to take a chance.
Everything that we encounter in life is not going to be pleasant. However, all of our experiences (good and bad) are beneficial. We have the opportunity to learn from each mistake and/or disappointment that we encounter. Many people suffer from Acrophobia and don't even know it. They have been hurt so bad and disappointed so many times that they will not allow themselves to go to the next level......they are afraid of all of the highs that life may have to offer them. So afraid of heights that they are willing to stay at ground level their entire lives.............. You can not let your past navigate your future because if you do, you are doomed. Life is just like that hymn, "Jacobs Ladder", "every round goes higher and higher" but how will you know what the next round holds if you are afraid of heights. All of the good stuff is at the top, but you have to be brave enough to get it........ So what if you fail or get your heart broke, at least you tired and now you are better prepared for the next round. You have to be open to the opportunities that await you. You have no way of knowing what is going to happen until you try. An honest attempt is so much greater then no effort at all. So many people miss out on love, happiness,and/or financial stability all because they are afraid of heights. This indeed is a sad way to live because you become your own worst enemy, hindering yourself from the chance to experience something great. I would rather fall from the top or on my way to the top then to live at the bottom................
What is your phobia, what are you allowing to hinder your progress? Is you fear of heights blocking your love life? Is it blocking you from making major moves in business? You have to identify those things that you are afraid of and conquer them. If you don't, be prepared to spend the rest of your life at ground zero.
